But First… The Scandiluxe Story

Scandiluxe was founded in Brisbane, Queensland by husband and wife team, Julian and Nikki. They combined their talents, and a shared mission to create sustainable home decor for a cleaner planet, to bring to life a growing collection of timber shelves, wall hooks and furniture in their signature clean, Scandinavian style.

Their first product, the Kink Hook was actually designed out of necessity — the pair were renovating their home with limited space and were in need of stylish but slimline wall storage options… and Voila, the brand was born! Fast-forward to today and the Scandiluxe range has grown and then some… to include timber furniture and storage options that are designed and made in Australia, with a focus on reducing their carbon footprint wherever possible. Scandiluxe is seen as one of the go-to’s amongst Australian designers, with their commitment to ethical and responsible manufacturing, and use of timber that’s sustainably sourced, FSC and PEFC certified.

Timber Shelves + Wall Furniture

Wall furniture is without a doubt one of the best ways to maximise storage in a smaller space, and perfect for adding extra storage solutions to any room design. Wall-mounted shelves are perfect for storing plants, books and decorative pieces and can even be used as a floating bedside table… PLUS has the added benefit of instantly adding that interior-designed, finished look to bare walls. Wall furniture and decor are also a practical alternative to hanging a mirror or artwork — adding warmth and design aesthetic #winwin. Here are the top 3 reasons to add wall furniture to your space:

  • Add customised, practical and much needed storage to a space.

  • Finish and add balance to a bare wall.

  • Creates a beautiful focal point.

Wooden Hooks

A few well-positioned wall hooks can add that finished interior-designed look to a hallway, bathroom or any space in your home or home improvement project. Wall hooks are the perfectly simple storage solution for towels, bags, hats and everything in between. The best part about Scandiluxe’s range of wall hooks is that they come in a range of timber stains and colour finishes so you can match them to other timber or metallic accents in your home. Wooden wall hooks in timber grains can instantly warm up a space and be key to balancing hard finishes like tiles in a bathroom, to avoid a design feeling clinical. Some other benefits of wooden hooks include…

  • A practical solution for hanging towels or other items in small bathrooms and tiny homes.

  • Can be used effectively in almost any style of home - from clean, minimal and neutral to Scandi and Coastal style homes.

  • Install multiple hooks side-by-side on longer walls, to add extra storage in a space.

  • Make a space feel elevated + interior-designed.

Scandiluxe 5 Do's For Using Wall Hooks

Planning wall hooks is easy to do, but there are definitely some key considerations that can take your design from good to great. Julian from Scandiluxe shares his top recommendations for installing wall hooks.

1. Placement: Consider where the hooks will be most useful, like near the entryway for hats, coats and handbags or in the bathroom near the shower for towels.

2. Solid Blocking Or Studs: Make sure that there is something solid behind the gyprock or plastered wall to screw into, like timber studs or solid blocking. If you're installing hooks onto VJ panels then you generally won’t need solid blocking, and if you are fixing into tiles, a solid fixing or block will add integrity, but alternatively, a 6.5 wall plug can also handle a good amount of weight to hang your hooks.

3. Match Your Aesthetic: Choose hooks in timber tones or colours that fit the overall theme or design of your room and home style, and keep it simple.

4. Keep Them Straight and level: Ensure the hooks are aligned and level for a clean look.

5. Space Them Evenly: To create balance, and allow enough space for whatever you’re hanging. Items like coats and large towels may need more space than clothing like hats.

Scandiluxe 4 Don'ts For Using Wall Hooks

And what you shouldn’t do when planning and installing wall hooks is arguably as important as what you should do… Here are Julian’s top tips on what to avoid

1. Don’t Overload: Scandiluxe hooks can hold a heap of weight but as with any hook, there is a point of no return. Hanging too many items or something too heavy can lead to wall damage.

2. Don’t Forget to Plan Height: Remember to think about how a hook will be used and who will be using it. Don't install hooks too high or too low so they’re impractical to use.

3. Don’t Skimp on Quantity or Quality: Honestly, quality wall hooks are worth their weight in gold and should last a lifetime. Plan

4. Don’t Forget To Colour Match: Timber adds warmth and natural beauty to any space, and by pairing your hook finish with other cabinetry, you’ll be well on your way to creating your own interior-designed space.
